Gabrial James Lundy, performing under the moniker Gabrial James, is a singer/songwriter/guitarist originally from Grand Rapids, MI and currently residing in Spring Lake, MI. He has been playing the guitar since the age of fourteen and singing since the age of eight.
Lundy received formal vocal training at St. Cecilia Music Society of Grand Rapids from 1985-1988 under renowned conductor and professor of music, Anton Armstrong, who now operates at St. Olaf College of Northfield, MN. St. Cecilia provided young Gabrial the opportunity to perform with the Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Chicago symphonies during his time there, as well as numerous collaborations with other local choirs and musical outfits.
Since then, Gabrial has aspired to make music his living. He got his start performing live while hosting one of the longest running open mic nights in the state of Michigan at Billy’s Lounge in the Eastown district of Grand Rapids. James hosted the open mic night from 2003-2010.
He incorporates his own style into every tune he does, whether it's a well-known cover song, or one of his beautifully crafted originals. Musically, he incorporates folk, alt-country, soul, and other elements that are hard to define in terms of genre. You might say he is a shape-shifter of sorts, sprinkling in his smooth touch on tunes that will make you sit up and pay attention.
